Painting demonstration

When the masking is completely dry paint in the sky with a large flat using cerulean blue. When that dries paint the background hills with a mixture of French Ultra blue and burnt umber and cad red. Wait for everything to dry before doing the foliage of trees.

Remove masking from foliage area. Next wet the paper with water in the foliage area. apply an even wash of cad yellow over the entire foliage area. Protect your paper using stencil and a washclothe. While still wet drop in dots of color by striking your finger with a #6 or #8 round brush. Use a variety of color but be careful with bright reds and greens to keep from getting too garish. Allow these colors to diffuse into the yellow. use some other yellows to reinforce the autumn feel. look to the side and just before the paper loses its shine add salt. Also add some scraping applied with the end of a chiseled brush. Drop in  a mixture of cobalt blue and cad red at the bottom of the trees to signify shadows. Let dry. You can add some wet on dry splatters with the same method to add some smaller dots.

next paint cadmium yellow into the tops of the trees using a small brush with plenty of water. Wipe away the excess with a paper towel. You should be able to cover all the white dots left behind with a light  coat of yellow leaving an irregular line of what appears to be separate groups of aspen leaves.
